Marvin K. White graduated from Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley with a Masters of Divinity where he was the recipient of the Paul Yinger Preaching Award. He is the author of four collections of poetry published by RedBonepress: "Our Name Be Witness", "Status" and the two Lambda Literary Award-nominated collections of poetry "last rights" and "nothin’ ugly fly". He is an ex-member of the critically acclaimed dance troupe PomoAfroHomos as well as a community arts organizer.

White holds a fellowship in the national African-American poetry organization Cave Canem; sits on the board of Fire & Ink, a national black LGBT writer’s organization; and is currently a fellow at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.

In community, White is articulating a vision of prophetic, social and creative justice through being a poet, writer, artist, activist, community organizer, public theologian, homemaker, cake baker, caregiver and Facebook statistician.
