Servant BK Woodson, Sr. began adulthood as a commissioned officer in the United States Air Force. He left the USAF to answer the call to ministry.

After completing seminary he was ordained at Middle Run Baptist Church, Xenia Ohio in February 1990. Referring to his relationship with The Lord he took the title of Servant and is known throughout the Bay Area and beyond as “Servant BK” and has served as a senior pastor for twenty-six of the past twenty-nine years and is currently the founding pastor of Oakland’s own Bay Area Christian Connection.

Servant BK Woodson, Sr. is a pastor with a strong sense of community activism, and a keen interest in social justice. He believes that Christ was invested in the uplift of disenfranchised people and that the bible should be read as the revelation of God and a continuing evaluation of extant economic and social oppression. He has hands-on and feet-in- the-street involvement in issues related to bridging relations within the Oakland community and creating a future for our children. He is the President of the Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance (I.M.A.) and Director of the Emerging Leaders Program of the Leadership Institute.

He is a published author, musician, very proud father of four fantastic children and happy to be Valerie’s husband.
