Dr. Valerie Miles-Tribble is Assistant Professor of Ministerial Leadership and Practical Theology at American Baptist Seminary of the West (ABSW)-Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley. She has served in pastoral ministry for more than seventeen years. Her responsibilities included filling the pulpit, worship, and ministry duties, team leader development, strategic planning, and community outreach ministry.

Licensed in 1998, Rev. Valerie graduated the American Baptist Seminary of the West and was ordained in 2001. She earned a Doctor of Ministry degree at the San Francisco Theological Seminary in 2006, and a PhD in Management with emphasis in Leadership & Organizational Change at Walden University in Minneapolis.

Rev. Valerie is passionate about ministry training to develop transformational leaders, empower women, families, and communities. Her writing and course work includes womanist theology, social justice advocacy, and community organizing.

Rev. Valerie is the proud mom of one young adult son in Atlanta. To relax, Rev. Valerie is an avid distance walker and she loves to cook and read.

Above all, she counts it a joy and humble privilege to "serve the Lord in a prophetic ministry of preaching, teaching and laboring in God's vineyard". (Isaiah 58:1-12; Matt. 25:31-41).
