Pastor MacArthur H. Flournoy has been in ministry for twenty years, starting as a missionary in Lagos, Nigeria, West Africa, serving for one year in 1989. He has held numerous ecclesiastical positions. His life work is committed to access to health care for marginalized communities, human rights, public policy and justice for all humanity, particularly in the area of HIV/AIDS and substance use. He serves on the Board of Directors of the United Church of Christ Justice & Witness Ministries as a voting member and as a Board member to the UCC Coalition for LGBT Concerns. In July 2008, MacArthur was installed as the National Minister for Public Policy by The Fellowship, a gathering of open and affirming ministries.

MacArthur is a full-time seminarian at the Pacific School of Religion, pursuing a Master of Divinity degree. He lives in Sacramento with his life partner of 14 years, Glenn Alexander and their five children.
